This is actually not a street mural, but rather street art. It reflects what is happening in the city a lot, that I already mentioned in earlier posts: use the kids to draw and paint some art on wooden panels sometimes to prevent squatters and other unwanted people to hang around in an empty place, or like here in the Tasmanstraat, to have them show their own vision on things. On this waste ground (former school site), behind a parking lot, kids from three primary schools of the neighborhood have been asked to paint their representation of a tree on 40 wooden panels. This "kunstbos" or "artwoods" will remain until 2009 when a new real estate development will start.

The Hague Daily Photo is heading South for a week in the Alps, so I'll see you again next Sunday. Have a great week enjoying photos from around the world.

Graffiti work (3)
I found this graffiti on the side wall of the HEMA shop in the Farheinaastraat. Given that it is painted under the security camera and that I found out that many employees of this chain went to some graffiti workshop as teambuilding exercise ( check here!), I can only assume that this is not a wild street mural but a deliberate one! Not bad!!

Graffiti work (2)
Here is the second part of the street mural painted in the 1e Haagpoort street opposite the main department stores in the city centre V&D and de Bijenkorf. Here earlier this month I posted the picture of the other part. It is just very colorful and actually, very nice.
Reading further into the archive of the Council House, I just found out that those street murals were in fact commissioned by the Council to a group of artists called Soulsur5 in Sept 2004, are unique by the size in the whole of the country, and should not at all be called "graffiti" .... as it is a call to keep the city walls cleared of graffitis!

Graffiti work (1)
Some time ago, I started to spot out that many electrical "spaces" are covered with some graffiti. I wonder whether there is any kind of authorisation from the Council House to allow graffiti artists to show their works on those special spaces. Here the first photo.

Nice wall painting
I spotted this painting in the Molenijzerstraat, and found it quite nicely done. Maybe you've guessed already, it is in Scheveningen, and the theme is of course, linked to fishing.....
