Mystery building

I have not managed to find the story behind this building situated on the Kerkplein. Why are they coats of arms from countries, as well as a statue that looks like a symbol of death? Does anybody have an idea what it could relate to?

That's a very interesting shot, Lezard. I too would like to know the story behind it.

BTW, I left an answer on my blog, but I'll paste it here as well, just in case:

Re: restaurant licensing: I wouldn't know, in this particular case, but some restaurants allow you to bring your own wine and they charge a "corking fee." The licenses are hard to get, not just because of the expense, but because the city has very specific regulations (alcohol beverage control).

I'll definitely come back to you on this post as soon as I get more grip on that building!
