Like in the old days

This is an old photograph that has been placed on the wall of a side street of the Keizerstraat in Scheveningen. It must have been placed in the last two weeks, as this was the first time I noticed it (when it measures approximately 3m*5m!). It pictures two traditionally dressed women in the style of fishermen's wives looking at sea when their husbands are sailing back. It probably recalls the symbol of Scheveningen I posted here.

I like your pictures very much, and I was in Hague twice and it was really lovely.

ps.
In Odense here we have a different version of the tin soldier, more classical :)
and I didn't know you have Mitoraj sculptures in Scheveningen. I like his works!

Yes, I looked at the previous photo, and it does, indeed, portrait Scheveningen 's symbol. Life must've been very hard for those women back then...

En tous cas la mer est calme et le soleil brille, il y a du monde sur la plage, assis dans leur panier pour se protger du vent de la mer du Nord.

Cool. It looks like they're anxiously awaiting their husbands!

Very very nice old picture.
I'd be curious to know how old it really is, because there seems to be a crowd on the beach behind the two ladies, so sea bathing was already popular back then...

Nice reminder of times long gone. Which lady today would think of dressing like that outside some special festival occasion?
