Thursday is market day in the Stevinstraat, a weekly small market that exists since 1975. On the picture, the typical Dutch vegetables: onions, , sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, leeks, green endives. Note that you cannot see any potatoes as they have a special stand on the market!

Nice looking veggies. Let's see, with some of those I could make a lovely quiche and a nice endive gratin. :)
Tomorrow I'm hitting the Haymarket downtown. I need a couple of big bunches of herbs to make a Persian kuku :).
Hi Lezard,
have you ever eaten dutch andijvie stamppot or hutspot?
Some traditional winter dishes you can make with these veggies?
Thanks Fenix and Ineke to comment on the pic of the day. Personnally I must confess I have never cooked sweet potatoes or the green endives (oups.....); I would not know how to prepare them myself. I do eat the Dutch stamppot and hutspot (in winter only!) but buy them ready made...
With the other veggies, I would prepare the following French dishes:
* Onion soup
* Poireaux vinaigrette (leek with vinegar dressing)
* Carrots in sour cream
Enjoy your meal!
