There are strict rules in The Hague one must follows regarding dogs:
* Dogs are only allowed on the beach from 1 October to 15 May (except two locations on the Zwarte pad and close to Kwartellaan).
* They must be kept on a leash at all times in the city except in some designated free-run areas.
* A new "clean up after your dog, everywhere, and take a bag with you” policy, in force for two years now, with potential fine for owners of up to €75 (€50 if a dog owner cannot present the mandatory “pooper-scooper”.
Has dog poop vanished from the city streets? Well not entirely, but it could be worse....

Well, that's a stiff fine. It will certainly take a few more years, but things will improve in the street-poop department :), noticeably. I love dogs, but I totally understand why people refuse to pick up after them. I wish cities could provide some kind of system, dunno, some place every other block or so for the animals, some sort of self cleaning public pet restroom. I wouldn't mind paying a fee for that!
Hi Lezard, I know I know, I love the action in this photo,
I posted today a part of my/our trip to luxemburg, part 1. You might like to see that? You are so welcome...
Bye, have a good day JoAnn
What a happy dog! Can you tell me what the mandatory pooper scooper is? We are moving to The Hague next month and I may need to upgrade from our simple plastic bag method....
Thanks!
Maryellen
Thanks all for your comments. I just found new dog poop facts for The Hague:
* 6% of the households in the city have a dog
* Registered dogs in The Hague: 14,452
* Each dog averages 90 kg of poop per year
* The Hague generates 1,300,000 kg of poop in a year...
Maryellen, you should direct to The Hague website on that page:

Thanks, Lezard!
Did you also know that there is a dog tax based on the dog's weight? Probably some correlation between weight and output....
