I answered your question about the use of chemicals. Here is what I said back on the site.
No chemicals were used to grow anything in Japan back then. They didn't use regular fertilizer, but they did use human waste that they collected and put in large cement cisterns and when needed dipped it out and spread it on the crops. We soldiers were not supposed to eat anything grown by the Japanese because of the diseases we could get that we were not immune to.
It smelled awfully bad.

Thanks all for your comments. The thing is, I never looked at those signs before I made the picture yesterday! But indeed, wind skateboarding is forbidden....The golf-related signs have already been taken off as they were only intended for last week-end.
